The police will drive you and your children to a local shelter. 3rd: Legal aid Between Friends is an advocacy organization that is specially trained to help domestic violence victims in the 3rd municipal court district in Cook County. Calling a Domestic Violence Hotline is one of first steps toward getting help. According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, they receive more than 21,000 calls per month from victims, survivors, friends and family members, law enforcement personnel, domestic violence advocates and the general public. Hotline advocates from the National Domestic Violence Hotline provide support and assistance to anyone involved in a domestic violence situation, including those in same-sex relationships, male survivors, those with disabilities and immigrant victims of domestic violence.
