NWSADV mission statement

To raise the awareness and promote prevention of domestic violence and to facilitate services that break the cycle of family violence in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago.  Collaboration, education and support of Cook County Third Municipal District Family Violence Coordinating Council are the goals.

           The Alliance was established in October 2002 to provide a forum for agencies and individuals interested in furthering community awareness of domestic violence and facilitating services to break the cycles of violence through collaboration, education and support of like organizations.

              Before October 2002, there was no forum for agencies, legal, religious, law enforcement and educational professionals and community representatives that worked with victims of violence to meet.

              Senator Wendell Jones formed the Northwest Suburban Alliance on Domestic Violence to meet this need.

              The group established three goals:

1. To raise community awareness on the issue of domestic violence 
2. To educated those in the community who could help victims of violence and 
3. To assist in the establishment of Family Violence Coordinating Council the Cook County Third Municipal Courthouse.
